Militaria Ephemera; Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Mathieu WWII Commander of the Regiment of Chaudière that landed on the beach of Bernières-sur-Mer (Juno Beach), in Normandy, on June 6, 1944. He participated in the Scheldt campaign in Oct and Nov 1944 then in the Battle of Normandy which included the Battle of Caen, from June to Aug 1944. His name can also be found on the Canadian War Memorial Juno Beach. It should be noted that the Colonel did receive the Distinguished Service Order, Efficiency Decoration & Chevalier Legion d'Honneur to name but a few. Most of the Colonels Military Medals and belongings were at some point in time passed on to Canadian Museums to be placed on display. This lot includes the items retained by the surviving family members and includes - several various ephemera examples such as his Dress Medals (mininature) as well as an small accumulation of original pictures/frames of the Colonel including a picture depicting him in his battle dress holding his personnal binoculors which by all accounts were used to follow and coordinate the Juno Beach Landing (binoculars are included with lot). Some documents included as well Official signed document for remittance of Chevalier Legion d'Honneur and more. It should be noted that the Colonel was married to Sybil Doughty (2nd marriage) a Registered Nurse at the time deployed in Belgium and also Includes her personal photo album of her own deployment as well as her medals The France and Germany Star, The Defence & the 1939-45 War Medals. A very historically important and possibly unique assembly. See Pics.
