Kings of Wessex, Alfred the Great (871-99), Penny, Phase III, Two Line type, Winchester dies, Wulfræd, aelfred rex divided into three sections around small cross pattée, rev. vvlfred+ in two lines divided by three pellets, additional pellet above and below, 1.60g/5h (Morley St Peter 101, same dies; BMC 396; N 639; S 1067).
